Like many things that are seen as "cool" or "totes fun," karaoke bars are slow to reach my levels of comfort. Live entertainment has never been one of my ambitions, which works out splendidly given my complete lack of ability to carry a tune. However, after a few key cocktails and one crowd favorite I can usually find my niche. While out at a Wicker Park favorite, Louie's Pub, for a brief stay this weekend a very surprising song lead me out of my comfort zone. For anyone who grew up in the Catholic school system, loves Broadway musicals, or maybe simply just Whoopi Goldberg films you too could probably relate if you heard "Joyful, Joyful" being sung throughout a crowded dive bar. Pure...well, joy.
After Friday night, I've been inspired to possibly add "Joyful, Joyful" to my list of best karaoke songs. Joining the ranks of these great numbers:
- Build Me Up Buttercup - The Foundations
- I Want You Back - Jackson 5
- Proud Mary - Tina Turner
- Midnight Train to Georgia - Gladys Knight
- I Wanna Dance With Somebody - Whitney Houston
- Daydream Believer - The Monkees
- Friends in Low Places - Garth Brooks
- Let's Call the Whole Thing Off - Louis Armstrong & Ella Fitzgerald
- Benny and the Jets - Elton John
- Jack & Diane - John Mellancamp

:))) Reminds me that the other day "The Trouble with Angels" was on...ahhhh. ;))
